Do you like Onigiri?
Me? Of course I do. I really do. I'm one of "Rice eaters." I often make and eat some onigiris for midnight snack, or sometimes for my lunch (bentou). By the way, the word "bento" seems kinda popular even to foreign people nowadays, but it should be pronounced like "Ben tow" so that bentou might be better to be written in Roma-ji form Japanese I guess. And, karaoke isn't "Carry Okie" :P
Well, what type of onigiri (or nigiri-meshi) do you prefer? My favorite is one of very common ones we have here in Japan. Putting some flakes of baked salmon inside, put few salt and rapping nori on its surface. Or sometimes I make the one using sesame (on surface), or using miso paste. You can make onigiris even without nori, but I recommend to use it since it can be easily grab/hold by your hand if it's rapped by nori.
Types of onigiri are so many, depends on each person, region, etc. You can take a look at pictures of such various types of onigiris in Wikimedia Commons' Onigiri category.

I usually make my onigiris with wasabi, tuna and mayonnaise. Sometimes just plain like that either with or without the nori strip, and sometimes I fry them (yaki onigiri) which makes them even more tasty :D
Bagoong and Pork (or should I call it just bagoong?) might be good for onigiri too :)

"tuna and mayonnaise (we call it tuna-mayo) onigiri" is also very popular here. Wasabi flavored onigiri attracts some "not that young people (like me)" but younger ones. I just wonder if you guys there can have/taste real and raw wasabi.

Furikake is really nice for onigiri! I usually keep some kinds of furikake in my kitchen cabinet.

Have you ever tried to make some makis at home? Give it a try if you haven't. Unlike nigiri-zushi, it's not that tough to make even by non-pro sushi chef like us. Some families enjoy maki (-zushi) home party in Japan. Besides, Cali rolls won't be seen at any *real* sushibars here. You know why...
Hm, not sure if we have it here. I haven't really looked for the real stuff. I usually just buy wasabi on a tube :P Works for me! Hehe. But, if I get the chance, I'll try out raw wasabi when I'm in Japan this summer :D
