I at last watched DVD of the movie "Letters from Iwojima" last night. (well... actually it was very early morning today) Although of course I knew the film was directed by Clint Eastwood, it looks like a Japanese local film to me.
The story is... based on kinda famous story of General Kuribayashi Tadamichi, but attracts many Arashi fans all over the world because of Ninomiya's appearance. I'm not intending to offend those Arashi (or Nino) fans, to me Watanabe Ken and Ihara Tsuyoshi's dominating presences are much more impressive, Nino is better than Matsujun in acting, though.
By the way, this sounds strange even to many of us, Iwo Jima is a part of Tokyo, although it's over 1,000km away from us.
I watched the Tagalog movie "Anak" at last. The film was created in the year of 2000, ok, this isn't latest movie for sure, but after I finished watching the movie I found this is a remarkable film.
I guess the background of this film might not be understandable for many Japanese, but personally I myself really enjoyed this movie. Fun? Of course it's not Hollywood fun-fun-then-happy-ending type movie, but I prefer the films with something meaning or message.
Although I don't have my own kids, never in real life, I felt I was Carla's father while I was watching the film, and wondering how would I do if I was her dad really.
